Safety

*IMSBC code, explain what is there in it.
*Draw midship of bulk carrier showing cargo hold and name and show strengthening members in drawing.
*Draw Torsion box, how it is connected to ship, how it is strengthened.
*Lifebuoy, location, attachment, length of lifeline.
*Watertight doors regulation.

Electrical

*Single phasing, how you will come to know in watch?
*Motor not starting when pressing button, reason and further action.
*Generator started but no voltage is showing in msb, reasons.
*Starter panel maintenance, reasons why maintenance is required.
*Types of fuse, how it is classified.
*Name types of starters, why to use star delta, (expecting formala).
Decider: Difference between 3phase 3 wire and 3 phase 4 wire.
Decider2: Draw Dol starter circuit ( both power and control)

Motor

*Engine specs.
*Manual desludging of purifier, complete desludging procedure ( how it happens)
Pilot valve construction and working.(drawing expected)
*Temp of one cyl rising, reason, what will be result of it, what will you do if you are in watch
*Main advantages of pulse turbocharging.
Decider: Oiler called you and told gen cyl head is ready to lift, what all things you need to check before lifting.


*What is pipe schedule.
*Different ways of extracting studs, draw how stud extractor looks.
*Types of threads, standards.
*Welding defects, lap welding, Why tig welding.
*Lube oil properties of 4 stoke crankcase oil.
*Types of Boiler tubes, too much cross questions.
*Compressor v/vs part names.
Deciders: Checks and any measurements before boxing up shell and tube type heat exchanger, Draw and show fwg condenser plates and how movement of water and vapour is happening,

Wire drawing effect

Wire drawing effect : It is erosion or scoring of valve seat and disc material of the valve . Causes : 1. Due to differential pressure across the valve . 2. Thermal and mechanical damages . Effects : Valve is unable to isolate the line and fails in sealing . Gas and liquid will leak from the wire and scratch like groove .

Cross and loop scavenging Disadvantage

Cross scavenging Disadvantage 1. It requires longer  piston skirt to prevent exhaust gas and air leaks from the ports when piston is at TDC . Loop scavenging Disadvantage 1. Both exhaust port and scavenge port are at the adjacent side of the liner which causes temperature differential problem for the liner material .
