Causes for high bearing temperature

1. Low supply pressure to the lube oil or low sump level in the tank .

2. Air lock in the lube oil or lubricating grooves obstructed.

3. Higher bearing clearances , excessive wear or improper tightening .

4. Pipelines defects or valve is shutdown .

5. Lube oil contains water or metal impurities.

Cross and loop scavenging Disadvantage

Cross scavenging Disadvantage 1. It requires longer  piston skirt to prevent exhaust gas and air leaks from the ports when piston is at TDC . Loop scavenging Disadvantage 1. Both exhaust port and scavenge port are at the adjacent side of the liner which causes temperature differential problem for the liner material .
